It’s true, it’s World Water Day, and Shinchi Maruyama’s already partying! He creates stunning art by throwing water in the air and taking photos of the shapes it makes mid-flight:
Apparently this is an exciting time in underwater photography – dozens of artists are pushing boundaries and experimenting in the medium. Moolf.com has put together a beautiful compilation of some of the biggest names in underwater photography. Obviously, the photos are incredibly serene…but there’s also an element of mystery or darkness in them. There’s an underlying tension in the photos that I’m drawn to.
Here are some of the best photos from the spread – I’ve always been a sucker for “Alice in Wonderland”, so the first photo is definitely my favorite.
