Waffle On A Stick? Don’t Mind If I Do…

A French company named Triangular Concept has discovered the meaning of life invented a machine that makes waffles on a stick.  Yes, you read that right…waffles. on. a. stick.  It’s a bit pricey (about $950!), but once I close my eyes and imagine the piping hot bowls of syrup and butter I’ll be dipping my Wafflesicles into, I quickly realize that money is no object.

Food Ballet…Minus The Tutus

Get your culture fix (sort of) with this food ballet.  If your co-workers eavesdrop and hear the Debussy classical piano coming from your computer, nod your head slowly and say, “Nice pirouette, Baryshinikov”…they’ll be impressed with your level of sophistication and never know you’re watching gummi bears, cupcakes, and pineapples strut their stuff.

Too Lazy To Eat? Try ‘The Food Lift’!

The scary thing is, if this product actually existed it would be a crazy-bestseller.  You’d probably be able to find it in the vestibule of “Bed, Bath, & Beyond” in the “As Seen On TV” section (that’s where I bought my first Snuggie…memories).

Weekend Hangover Quiz: Yummy National Flags

Maybe it’s because I haven’t had lunch yet and I’m starving, but I got a kick out of these national flags made out of traditional foods from each country.  They were created to promote the Sydney International Food Festival coming up in October.  Guess the countries (answers at the bottom).  I just heard my stomach growl – gotta go.

Theme Restaurants…Extreme Edition

I’m a sucker for chain and theme restaurants…I’ll admit it. Nothing gets me more excited.

My favorite theme restaurant of all time is Ed Debevic’s in Chicago.

It’s a 50′s/60′s themed diner – complete with classic music, vintage memorabilia, and most memorably, the rudest waitstaff you’ll ever encounter. I had my 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th birthday party at the restaurant, and I remember being petrified of the staff. They took their characters to a new extreme – shouting, ridiculing orders (“DIET coke?!? You pathetic piece of s**t!”), and releasing their aggression on the most unsuspecting customers (including young, impressionable children, like me…) I know it sounds like a nightmare, but it was a blast.

Picture 21Weburbanist has compiled a list of some of the wildest theme restaurants from around the world. My favorite is Belgium’s “Dinner in the Sky”. They strap diners into chairs and raise them and the entire dinner table 150 feet above the ground! There isn’t a single meal that goes by that I don’t drop a utensil on the floor, so I’m not sure it would be safe to have me around, but it seems like a wild experience. Click the image to see the rest of the restaurants, including dinner in a fake hospital, a fake airplane, and a fake prison…
