To Mr. Roddenberry: Bring Back The Disco-Fever Warp!

You might not have noticed, but the SS Enterprise’s warp drive has really evolved throughout the years.  This short video compiles warps from the first ‘Star Trek’ movies all the way to the most recent.  It’s interesting to see how the warps became more boring throughout the years…starting as a sparkly rainbow disco-tunnel and ending up as a bland, undramatic blip.  Engage:

The Magic Highway Of The Retro-Future

Back in 1958, Americans had an exuberantly optimistic view of the future…jet packs, robots, dinner with the “Jetsons”. This video, “Magic Highway USA” is taken from the Disneyland TV show, and features some of the lofty dreams we had about driving, commuting, and vacationing in the future. Some predictions actually did come true, like car rearview video cameras, but others were way too ambitious, like auto-piloted cars controlled by flimsy paper punchcards. Sit back and enjoy some retro-futurist kitsch:

‘Mortal Kombat’ Fatalities Never Looked So Adorable

If the phrase “Finish Him” means anything to you, you’ll love this paper stop-motion video of ‘Mortal Kombat’ brutal fatality moves.  I almost forgot what a tease Sonya was…she blows you a sweet looking kiss which ends up setting you on fire and burning you to a deadly crisp.  As if my fellow geeky gamers didn’t have a tough enough time with the ladies.
