Why Didn’t I Think Of That: Chocolate Covered Strawberry Shot Glass Edition

Thanks to the geniuses at Sweet Tooth, I am now able to share with you the MOST IMPORTANT CREATION OF OUR TIME:

The Chocolate Covered Strawberry Shot Glass!

They’re incredibly simple to make:

1.  Cut the pointy end off the strawberries to create a base

2.  Scoop out the middle with a paring knife and small spoon.  (Make sure to not make them too thin)

3.  Dip them in delicious melted chocolate

4.  Put them in the freezer

5.  When you’re ready, take them out and let them thaw for a bit.  Then get wild and add your alcohol of choice.  (The editors of Sweet Tooth used vanilla vodka, Godiva chocolate liqueur, and some chocolate syrup!  Wow.)

6.  Drink, eat, and pass out.

7.  Repeat!

Cocktail Creation: The Riviera

Don’t let anyone tell you that summer is almost over. Put your fingers in your ears and scream “Na Na Na Na Na” until they shut up. Then make them this unbelievably delicious summer cocktail and I guarantee they’ll never speak those hideous words again.

Madames & Messieurs, Signore & Signori, Chicks & Dudes, please enjoy…

“The Riviera”

1. Add about 2 shots of Lillet Blanc to a glass filled with ice.  Lillet is a French apertif wine that’s fairly new to the US…and it’s très bon.

2. Add another 2 shots of Mionetto, my ultimate favorite Italian prosecco on the planet. It doesn’t get much better than this.

3. Fill the rest of the glass with Fresca, and garnish with orange and lime slices.

And…voila -

Cocktail Creation Dessert: Lemon Lusso

If I ever find myself standing in front of a firing squad and asked what I want my last meal to be, after listing off a dozen potato-based items, this dessert will absolutely be requested.  It combines three of my favorite obsessions – lemon, chocolate, and alcohol – into one exceptionally delicious and decadent treat.  I’m still shocked at the lack of lemon/chocolate creations in the food world – trust me, it’s an untapped combination that’s just waiting to be exploited.

Enjoy a Lemon Lusso (Luxurious Lemon)…

- Start with a slice of moist pound cake.  I’m old-school, so I chose a Sara Lee freezer-section pound cake – it reminds me of my childhood and it’s sinfully tasty.

- Add a scoop of your favorite ice cream.  I went with classic vanilla.

- Pour a liberal amount of Limoncello over your creation.

- Shave some dark chocolate and lemon rind over the ice cream.

- Add a handful of Quadratini Dark Chocolate Wafer Cookies

- Ciao Down!

UPDATE! – at last night’s 5/21/11 Rapture Post-Party, I brought along my Lemon Lusso creation to share with the fellow sinners, and added an ingredient that put the proverbial icing on the cake…non-fat REDDI-WIP WHIPPED CREAM!   Awwww, yeah.

Oooh La La: Self-Serve Wine Tanks

Move over Two-Buck-Chuck…for only $2 a liter, French supermarket shoppers can fill up their empty wine jugs with these brand spanking new self-serve machines.  It’s not often that us macho Yanks steal ideas from those pansy French (Je rigole!), but guess what, my fellow winos…apparently these machines are headed to our shores as we speak!  Buvon!!!  (Let’s drink!!!)

Warning – Drunks!

The mayor of a small town in Romania recently got pissed off that so many drunk people were getting hit by cars, so he did what any responsible civil servant would do…he installed several of these road signs around town.  Translation:  ”Warning – Drunks!”

I especially love that they chose the always-PC word “drunks”.  If I was still 19, I know where I’d be going for Spring Break this year – seems like the ultimate party town…
