Break Out The Dramamine – The Wonka-vator Exists!
Remember this scene from “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory”?
After Wonka tells Charlie Bucket he’s now in charge of the factory and all the creepy ‘little people’ (although in the 70s they were probably called ‘orange midgets’), they hop into a spiffy glass elevator and fly off into the sunset. Cue credits. At the start of the trippy book sequel, “Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator”, the Wonka-vator keeps flying and ends up in outer space where inter-planetary hijinx ensue.
I REALLY wanted one of these personal-flying-shiny-glass-elevators as a kid. Unfortunately, I wasn’t Richie Rich, and it didn’t exist. Until now. A hot air balloon with a thick glass bottom was recently invented, providing riders with stunning views and queasy stomachs. Sign me up.
Here’s a video of the new Wonka-vator 2.0 in action -
