Watch Out…Drunk Pedestrians!

The mayor of a small town in Romania recently got pissed off that so many drunk people were getting hit by cars, so he did what any responsible civil servant would do…he installed several of these road signs around town.  Translation:  ”Warning – Drunks!”

I especially love that he chose the word “drunks” as opposed to something more PC like “intoxicated pedestrians”.  If I was still 19, I know where I’d be going for Spring Break this year…seems like a real party town!

“Lost” + “Baywatch” = Perfection

Become A Pinball Wizard…With Your MIND!

A newfangled high-tech machine called the ‘Berlin Brain-Computer Interface’ uses brain waves to give commands to machines.  In this vid, the player simply has to think about moving his left or right hand, and the corresponding pinball flipper is flicked.  Besides this being freaky/amazing, imagine the possibilities for paralyzed people.  Wow.

Never Get Lost With This Compass Table

I’m not exactly sure what the point of this table made out of compasses is, other than the fact that it would be really fun to play with while drinking your morning coffee.  (Santa, if you’re reading this, sure…I’ll take one of these – why not?)

A Geeky Zelda Story To Lift Your Spirits

All that blind teenager Jordan Verner wanted to do was complete “Zelda: Orcarina of Time” on Nintendo 64…obviously he thought this was virtually impossible for someone like him.  That was until three guys read about him on the internet and created an elaborate 100,000 keystroke script for him…all Jordan needed to do was follow the script exactly and he would finally get his wish.  Check out this unbelievably positive (and geeky!) story:

Mother Nature Is One Cool Chick

These mesmerizing time-lapse videos show Mother Nature doing her thing -

The music is the best part of this Shroom video…it’s like porno music from another dimension (not that I would know what that’s like)

OK Go “This Too Shall Pass” – Wow.

OK Go has created another viral video jaw-dropper…I’ve always loved these “Mousetrap”/Rube Goldberg chain-reaction videos – this one takes the genre to a whole other level.  Sit back and enjoy – I guarantee you’ll watch it until the very last frame.

Too Lazy To Eat? Try ‘The Food Lift’!

The scary thing is, if this product actually existed it would be a crazy-bestseller.  You’d probably be able to find it in the vestibule of “Bed, Bath, & Beyond” in the “As Seen On TV” section (that’s where I bought my first Snuggie…memories).

NYC: The Teeny-Weeny Apple

A few months ago, I posted some cool examples of Tilt-Shift photography, the method of manipulating camera angles so the images end up looking like miniature toys.  I just spotted this amazing Tilt-Shift video of NYC.  Enjoy:

Ultimate “Alice” Tattoo…Curiouser & Curiouser

I’ve been a huge fan of ‘Alice in Wonderland’ for as long as I can remember…the trippy visuals, maniacally insane characters, and twisted logic left a mark on my impressionable brain (and might have made me slightly crazy). But this superfan takes her “Alice”-obsession to a whole other level…wow. (Understandably, she decided not to include the famous phrase, “Eat Me”…)

SIDENOTE: I’m cautiously optimistic about the upcoming Tim Burton “reboot”. As much as I appreciate Burton’s wild aesthetic, I thought his version of “Willy Wonka” (another childhood favorite of mine) was a total buzzkill. What do you think?

YOU:  Hey Brain, what’s up?

YOU:  Woah…I’ve never seen you like this before.

BRAIN:  TigerElinTigerElinTigerApologyElinTigerElin

YOU:  Um…I’ll turn off the TV – you read these articles asap…you’ll be OK.

* You wake up from a nap in Seat 23B (ugh, middle seat) and find yourself free-falling through the air from 35,000 feet above ground.  Let’s be honest…you’re probably gonna die.  But, if you play your proverbial cards right, there’s a SLIM chance that you can survive – here’s a step-by-step guide explaining how. - Popular Mechanics

* Rolling Stone’s Matt Taibbi continues his stellar work shining a spotlight on outrageous political and economic scams happening around us in plain sight.  His latest must-read article explains how Goldman Sachs and friends are using taxpayer money to create identical situations that will most likely lead to another horrific crash. - Rolling Stone

* A simple, easy-to-understand, and factual guide for explaining to your Tea Party relatives why the February SNOWmageddon of 2010 doesn’t disprove global warming…there’s actually evidence that the crazy snow is because of the higher average temps. – Time

* Roger Ebert, one-half of the trademarked “Two-Thumbs-Up”, has been fighting thyroid cancer for several years.  His lower jaw was recently removed, robbing him of the ability to speak and eat.  This powerful profile shows how Ebert’s editorial and poetic voice has been awakened and is now louder than ever. – Esquire

* People who kill their families are called “Family Annihilators”, and frighteningly, the number of these cases are increasing each year.  Psychologists have begun to paint a picture explaining what drives them to commit such heinous crimes.  - Newsweek

The Robot Takeover…It’s Finally Here

I’ve talked about the impending Robot Takeover a few times on this blog…well, nothing says “holy crap kids, lock yourselves in the basement because the Robots are about to attack” like the Cubestormer from Lego Mindstorms – it can solve any random Rubik’s Cube in less than 12 seconds.  This is the beginning of the end…
